The bees and animals at Candle Bee Farm are maintained as nature intends. As such, the hard working farm dogs enjoy a raw, natural diet. We have seen immense improvement in appearance, health and vitality since following this path. A fad diet? No, it is a return to the natural way of eating and how our European family fed many long lived, healthy, unvaccinated dogs before the conception of commercial dog foods. Feeding according to a raw, natural prey model provides the nutrients necessary for perfect health and dentition. The dogs enjoy perfect weight, marvelous musculature, shiny fur (no ‘doggie’ odor), gleaming white teeth, healthy gums, bright eyes, resistance to disease and parasites (even fleas and ticks), and loads of energy. We highly recommend this way of feeding.
We provide very few supplemental foods for the animals here. Most notable being home grown garlic (about one freshly minced clove per day per dog, sorry garlic ‘tablets’ do not provide the necessary nutrients or parasite deterrence) and a human grade sea kelp mixture (the aquatic formula offered on this site).
We are very selective about what we (being raw vegetarians ourselves) and the creatures who share this farm put into our bodies. Over the years we have found a few canine supplements that have impressed us. We have added these to our product offerings in an attempt to help canines everywhere improve health.

The ENERGOL product is 100% Human Grade and is useful in establishing a more favorable ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 fatty acids. It contains 30% of essential fatty acids derived from Flax and fish oils. Dogs cannot create long chain Omega 3’s from short chain Omega 6’s. A ratio of 3 to 1 in favor of Omega 3’s is beneficial as a dietary supplement for a less than perfect diet (i.e. most modern canine diets and commercial diets). Flax is also rich in Boron, a mineral with an essential bone building role. The addition of vitamin B6 & Zinc (a mineral) make Omega 3 oils more efficient.
Stabilized Rice Bran contains Gamma Oryzanol. This component may help lower LDL cholesterol. It may also improve the sheen and thickness of coat. The bio-availability of this ingredient may serve to increase endurance and enhance recovery time from strenuous work via improved musculature, heart and liver function.
Nori Kelp provides a source of iodine, significant mineral profile and phyto-nutrients.
Directions: One level teaspoon for every 40 pounds of body weight daily. The ENERGOL product may be increased to help escalate the values of lesser dry matter (base) foods to more acceptable levels. Increases should be slow and gradual and not exceed three heaping teaspoons per 40 pounds of body weight. When feeding an ideal diet, the ENERGOL product may be fed less frequently in reduced volumes.
